Manages the aquatics division budget, including both revenue and expenses to achieve 100% cost recovery budgetary goals. Supervise Aquatics Division including hiring, coaching, mentoring, and training staff to provide quality customer service and perform aquatics duties in a safe manner. Ensure the operation of the Aquatics Division meets Apex Centre standards and provides an environment of member delight. Develops an annual sales plan and strategic action plan to achieve budgetary goals. Develops the aquatic programs including descriptions, schedules, instructors, etc. for brochure periods. Manages and remedies, if necessary, the division's pricing of services, staff and contract employee payroll, sales and other revenues and expenses to meet budget and forecast goals. Ensures the operation of the division meets city standards and provides an environment of member and guest expectations. Certifies personnel to perform life guarding and water safety instruction skills. Directs, manages, and supervises daily operations and schedules work assignments. Ensures the safety of all facility guests. Maintains a clean and orderly facility, including preventative maintenance on all equipment and equipment is in proper working order. Creates, coordinates, resources, implements, delivers, markets and sells all aquatic programs and services. Schedules a year-round comprehensive aquatics program. Enforces all safety rules; provides in-service safety training for all employees; and, maintains all necessary correspondence with the American Red Cross. Ensures that water chemistry meets all state standards; operates chlorination and filtration systems; maintains accurate water chemistry and equipment records; operates vacuum, backwash and other equipment; and prepares and winterizes the outdoor pool. Orders supplies and equipment and maintains all inventory. Inspects facility for needed repairs. Must work various shifts, including evenings and weekends as scheduled. Conducts regular meetings and education sessions for direct report employees; cooperates with the facility manager in conducting an annual meeting for all employees. Handles daily, weekly and monthly payroll functions for all groups, including, but not limited to, collecting and auditing contractors' commission sheets, preparing all payroll activities in payroll system, managing payroll and commission expense to plan, etc. Meets regularly with the management team to ensure complete cooperation between divisions in the facility and effective communication to other employees in the facility regarding the divisions' services and operation. Because of the fluctuating demands of the facility's operation, it may be necessary that each employee perform a multitude of different functions; therefore, as a central part of your job, you will be expected to assist others when the occasion arise, just as other employees are expected to assist you. Accordingly, you may be expected to perform other tasks as needed that are not included in the above accountability list. Conducts oneself at all times in a manner of professionalism that aligns with the values, philosophies and standards of the City of McKinney and the Apex Centre. This includes wearing the Apex Centre approved uniform and nametag. Adheres to all the various written mandatory standards of operation, policies, procedures, manuals, memos, oral instructions, etc. Attends all scheduled employee meetings.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor degree in Recreation, Physical Education, or closely related field; supplemented by three (3) years previous experience and/or training that includes pool operation and management, life guarding/water safety instruction; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Certification in CPR/AED required; Lifeguard Instructor Certificate; Pool Operator Certificate; American Red Cross Lifeguard Certificate; American Red Cross First Aid Certificate; and American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer Certificate are required. Water Safety Instructor Certificate preferred. Any work related experience resulting in acceptable proficiency levels in the above Minimum Qualifications may be an acceptable substitute for the above specified education and experience requirements. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Prefer a non-smoker. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT Must pass a drug screen and background check. Must have Class C Texas Driver's License. Physical Demands/Supplemental PHYSICAL DEMANDS This position requires a great deal of visual perception and oral communication. The evaluating of aquatic personnel and scheduled inspection of aquatic facilities and equipment requires massive amounts of routine observation and oral communication to aquatic staff and other City personnel. WORK ENVIRONMENT Tasks may risk exposure to extreme heat/cold or extreme weather conditions. Also routine exposure to chemicals such Calcium Hypochlorite, Hydrochloric Acid and other pool related chemicals.

Summary:
The Aquatic Technician performs skilled maintenance and technical work in the operation, repair, and maintenance of public swimming pools, splash pads, fountains, and related mechanical equipment. This position ensures all aquatic facilities meet or exceed health and safety standards and operate efficiently.
Essential Functions:
· Monitor, maintain, and repair chemical feed systems, filtration equipment, and pumps at aquatic facilities.
· Inspect, troubleshoot, and perform routine preventative maintenance on mechanical systems, plumbing, electrical components, and structures.
· Conduct daily water chemistry testing and maintain proper chemical balances in accordance with local and state health codes.
· Clean pools, backwash filters, and ensure proper circulation and sanitation systems are functioning.

· Assist in the opening, closing, and winterization of aquatic facilities.
· Collaborate with contractors and vendors for repairs, inspections, or facility upgrades.

Qualifications:
· High school diploma or GED equivalent.
· Two (2) years of experience in aquatic facility maintenance or a related mechanical trade.
· Valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record.
· Certified Pool Operator (CPO) or Aquatic Facility Operator (AFO) certification.
· HVAC, electrical, or plumbing certifications.
· Experience working in a municipal or parks and recreation setting.
Knowledge and Abilities:
· Knowledge of aquatic facility operations, water chemistry, and mechanical systems.
